Latest Breaking News about DORC

DORC's ZX-1 micro Array+ released

11-15-13 - Used primarily to measure multi fiber (MT/MPO® and MT-RJ) connectors, DORC’s fifth generation “ZX-1 micro Array+” is the result of 21 years of hardware and software product development.  Although optimized for mutifiber connectors, the ZX-1 micro Array plus also does an excellent job of measuring single fiber PC and APC connectors. DORC’s patented design is based on a variant of the Michelson configuration, and provides BOTH 2D and 3D high resolution images of the sample under test in approximately 45 seconds for multi fiber connectors and <3 seconds for single fiber connectors.

Key Benefits:

  • Measures BOTH multi fiber and single fiber connectors.
  • Very small footprint - supplied by default with a laptop computer. Desktop or Tablet PC's available upon request.
  • Automatic reference mirror calibration – NO manual adjustments!!
  • Automatic connector centering – NO manual adjustments!!
  • Automatic focus – NO manual adjustments!!
  • Hermetically sealed optical module – a dusty production environment is no longer a problem.
  • High resolution camera and optics - results in improved repeatability and reproducibility.
  • Simple connections – just a single power cord and USB 3.0 port on the rear.
  • No anti-vibration table required. Fan-less design eliminates any system induced vibration.
  • Patented reference guide pins are integrated into the chuck and made of ceramic, so they can never bend.
  • Fast measurement – typically less than 45 seconds including calibration verification.
  • No calibration whatsoever required when changing chucks from single fiber to MT/MPO® or MT-RJ.
  • Simple operation - insert the connector and right click to measure. Centering, focus and the scan are all automatic.
  • Calibration is held on the instrument itself, eliminating the need to keep the interferometer and PC as a matched pair.
  • Software backup, calibration and an image of the supplied PC are all stored on the instrument itself, in non-volatile memory – making lost disks, viruses, deleted files, corrupted Windows and PC failures a snap to recover from.
  • Manufactured by a vendor that has sold more automated connector measuring interferometers than all other vendors combined.
  • Costs 30% less than the prior version and the complete system ships in a single 16”x16”x20” box when configured with a laptop.
  • 1 Year Warranty included.

smallnew.gif (926 bytes)DORC's ZX-1 micro DUET+ released

03-12-13 - DORC’s ZX-1 micro DUET+ is the world's first “dual headed” system, designed primarily for measuring BOTH ends of hybrid patch cords “simultaneously” using a single PC and operator. For example, both ends of a 1.25mm to 2.50mm patch cord can be measured at the same time - without the need to change chucks. Data for both ends appears consecutively in the history report, greatly reducing the time and data handling typically associated with measuring all the 1.25mm ends first, changing chucks and then measuring all the 2.50mm ends. The use of a single PC as a controller reduces the system cost while improving operator productivity and throughput. The ZX-1 micro DUET+ can be configured with any two modules from the ZX-1 micro PMS+ series of measurement instruments.

Key Benefits:

  • World's First DUAL headed interferometer.
  • Can be configured with ANY 2 modules from the ZX-1 micro series of products.
  • Controlled by a single PC.
  • Simultaneous measurements from BOTH modules.
  • Allows measurement of hybrid patchcords without changing fixtures.
  • Very small footprint – supplied by default with a laptop computer. Desktop and Tablet PC's available upon request.
  • Modular design allows the system to grow with your needs and budget.
  • Automatic focus, manual focus or BOTH!!
  • Hermetically sealed optical modules – a dusty production environment is no longer a problem.
  • High resolution camera and optics – results in improved repeatability and reproducibility.
  • Simple interface – just a single power cord and USB 3.0 port on the rear.
  • No anti-vibration table required. Fan-less design removes any system induced vibration.
  • “Auto Sense” technology, initiates measurements automatically as soon as the connectors are inserted.
  • Simple operation – centering, focus and initiating the measurements themselves can all be completely automatic.
  • Calibration is held on the instrument itself, eliminating the need to keep the system and PC as a matched pair.
  • Software backup, calibration and an image of the PC itself (if supplied), are all stored on the instrument itself, in non-volatile memory – making lost disks, viruses, deleted files, corrupted Windows and PC failures easy to fix.
  • System design lends itself to integration in automated production lines.
  • Manufactured by a vendor that has sold more automated connector measuring interferometers than all other vendors combined.
  • Complete system ships in a single 16”x16”x20” box when configured with a laptop or tablet PC.
  • 1 Year Warranty included.

smallnew.gif (926 bytes)ZX-1 Array PLUS offers enhanced functionality with PMS 6.0

06-25-03 - DORC’s introduction of PMS 6.0 enhances the functionality of the ZX-1 Array PLUS Zoom Interferometer. New features include the ability to measure an MT 72 fiber connector in a single scan, customized reporting and foreign language support. This version also includes a host of other improvements that eliminate any interaction with the user once a measurement has been initiated.

smallnew.gif (926 bytes)ZX-1 mini PMS PLUS

02/01/03 - The introduction of the DORC’s ZX-1 mini PMS PLUS shifts fiber optic endface interferometry and inspection testing to a new plateau. This extremely compact and fully integrated design incorporates completely automated focus, XY adjustment and calibration. There are NO manual adjustments whatsoever required for calibration – even when changing fixtures! The revolutionary non-contact design builds on the success of the world's best-selling automated connector measuring interferometer - the ZX-1 mini PMS.

Enhancements include:
Automatic apex offset calibration – NO manual adjustments!
Automatic focus.
Automatic XY adjustment.
Dual band extended range (XR) available to measure fiber heights of +/- 100 microns.
Further improvements to the already outstanding stability, resolution and repeatability.
Instant inspection mode incorporates enhanced scratch analysis.
Compact design – just connect the monitor, keyboard, mouse and power cable.
Optional integrated connector tuning.
Optional integrated PM fiber alignment.
Integrated PEDESTAL diameter measurement.
Easily transported in an optional compact hard case.
Available as an OEM module for integration into your own products.

Although the new ZX-1 mini PMS PLUS incorporates many new features unmatched in the industry, additional design criteria included the ability to reduce our manufacturing costs, thereby allowing DORC® to sell this system for significantly less than the original ZX-1 mini PMS. Traditionally DORC’s products were slightly more expensive than our competitors - although this was a clear example of “you get what you pay for”. After the re-design, it is now possible to purchase DORC’s system for about the same or less than the price of any other system on the market – even those that are CONTACT in nature. This innovative design was three dimensionally modeled in a "virtual world" from conception to completion - before manufacturing a single part! It was not only successful in achieving all of it’s goals, but also resulted in a system that was extremely easy to service. In the unlikely event of failure, the entire interferometric system could be replaced by removing just 4 screws.

Further improvements include streamlining our already intuitive and easy to use PMS software. Measurements now consist of inserting the connector into the chuck – no need to center or focus the connector – everything is automatic and measurements are completed in less than 1 second. The system retains it’s ability to produce comprehensive Quality Control and History reports within Microsoft Excel, combined with statistical analysis of the measurement data.

With so many improvements, DORC’s excellent reputation for support and such competitive pricing, the new ZX-1 mini PMS PLUS becomes the obvious choice for your connector endface measurement requirements.
