DORC is moving to a new facility in Florida
1-25-06 - As many of you are aware,
DORC has
been planning a relocation to Florida over the past 2 years. We can finally see
the light at the end of the tunnel, and will be making the transition in early
February, 2006. Specifically, the anticipated schedule is as follows:
January 27th, 2006 - Phoenix production will be stopped.
February 6th, 2006 - Transportation to Florida starts.
February 13th, 2006 -
DORC
arrives at new facility.
February 20th, 2006 - production resumes in Florida.
During this time there will inevitably be some minor disruptions to production,
shipping and communications.
A) Our phones/fax in Phoenix will continue to be operational throughout the
transition. Phones/fax in Florida will be operational on February 14th.
B) E-mail may be disrupted from the 7th through the 10th of February. If you do
not get a response within 24 hours as usual, then we did not get your e-mail!
C) Please do not ship anything to
DORC from
January 25, 2006 without an RMA. This will allow us to make sure packages are
routed to the correct address. After February 14th everything will be shipped to
and from the new facility.
Our new contact details are as follows:

ZX-1
Array PLUS offers enhanced functionality with PMS 6.0
6-25-03 -
DORC’s
introduction of PMS 6.0 enhances the functionality of the
ZX-1 Array PLUS Zoom Interferometer. New features include the ability to measure
an MT 72 fiber connector in a single scan, customized reporting and foreign
language support. This version also includes a host of other improvements that
eliminate any interaction with the user once a measurement has been initiated.

ZX-1
mini PMS PLUS
2/01/03 - The introduction of the
DORC’s ZX-1 mini PMS
PLUS shifts fiber optic endface interferometry and inspection testing to
a new plateau. This extremely compact and fully integrated design incorporates
completely automated focus, XY adjustment and calibration. There are NO manual
adjustments whatsoever required for calibration – even when changing fixtures!
The revolutionary non-contact design builds on the success of the worlds best
selling automated connector measuring interferometer -
the ZX-1 mini PMS.
Enhancements include:
Automatic apex offset calibration – NO manual adjustments!
Automatic focus.
Automatic XY adjustment.
Dual band extended range (XR) available to measure fiber heights of +/- 100
microns.
Further improvements to the already outstanding stability, resolution and
repeatability.
Instant inspection mode incorporates enhanced scratch analysis.
Compact design – just connect the monitor, keyboard, mouse and power cable.
Optional integrated connector tuning.
Optional integrated PM fiber alignment.
Integrated PEDESTAL diameter measurement.
Easily transported in an optional compact hard case.
Available as an OEM module for integration into your own products.
Although the new ZX-1 mini PMS PLUS
incorporates many new features unmatched in the industry, additional design
criteria included the ability to reduce our manufacturing costs, thereby
allowing DORC®
to sell this system for significantly less than the original ZX-1 mini PMS.
Traditionally DORC’s products
were slightly more expensive than our competitors - although this was a clear
example of “you get what you pay for”. After the re-design,
it is now possible to purchase DORC’s
system for about the same or less than the price of
any other system on the market – even those that are CONTACT in nature. This
innovative design was three
dimensionally modeled in a "virtual world" from conception to completion -
before manufacturing a single part! It was not only successful in
achieving all of it’s goals, but also resulted in a system that was extremely
easy to service. In the unlikely event of failure, the
entire interferometric system could be replaced by removing just
4 screws.
Further improvements include streamlining our already
intuitive and easy to use PMS software. Measurements now consist of inserting
the connector into the chuck – no need to center or focus the connector –
everything is automatic and measurements are completed in less than 1 second.
The system retains it’s ability to produce comprehensive Quality Control and
History reports within Microsoft Excel, combined with statistical analysis of
the measurement data.
With so many improvements,
DORC’s excellent reputation
for support and such competitive pricing, the new ZX-1 mini PMS
PLUS becomes the obvious choice for your
connector endface measurement requirements.

DORC® becomes FasTech 50 Award Winner (AGAIN!)
Direct Optical Research Company (DORC®),
a leading manufacturer of fiberoptic test equipment is proud to announce that it won
5th
place in the 2001 "FasTech 50" awards, held at the
Hyatt Gainey Ranch, Scottsdale,
AZ in November. The annual awards are presented to the 50 fastest growing high technology
companies based in Arizona. This is the FOURTH consecutive year that Direct
Optical Research Company has received this prestigious award.
2001 - 5th place (2001 was
the last year of FasTech 50 competition)
2000 - 18th place
1999 - 31st place
1998 - 32nd place
ZX-1 Array
PLUS

5/15/01 -
DORC’s latest addition to it’s fiberoptic test equipment
line is the “ZX-1 Array PLUS” Zoom Interferometer. This unit has been
specifically designed to measure the endface geometry of single ferrule,
multi-fiber connectors, including but not limited to the MT, Mini-MT, MT-RJ, MPO, MPX and MTP®. Array connectors may be measured with or without
their housings installed. The ZX-1 Array PLUS is unique in that it can also
measure standard single-fiber, PC and APC connectors.
By using a Patented calibration technique and automated fringe
"nulling", the
ZX-1 Array PLUS can acquire and calculate the endface surface topography of both
straight and angled array
connectors relative to the axis of it’s guide pin holes. The ability to measure
the endface in this absolute, rather than relative mode offers significant
advantages over any other measurement technique.
The ZX-1 Array PLUS is a Zoom Interferometer based on a
Patented variation of the Michelson
design, and incorporating both broad and narrow band solid-state sources. This
configuration coupled with fully automated XYZ motion allows the operator to
look at any portion of the connector’s endface, over a wide range of
magnifications in either inspection or interferometric modes. No other
instrument can offer this much flexibility.

ZX-1 micro Bench-Top

DORC® has expanded it range of
"ZX-1 micro" hand-held interferometers to include a bench-top version that
provides cost effective, non-contact measurement of fiberoptic connectors in an extremely
compact unit. The new system can display either interferometric or inspection mode images
of both PC and APC style connectors on an external 12" monitor.

ZX-1 nano

DORC® has introduced the "ZX-1
nano" to its range of interferometric and inspection test equipment for the
fiberoptic connector industry. The ZX-1 nano is an "inspection only" system
that comes in either a hand-held (5" built-in LCD monitor) or bench-top (external
12" monitor) configuration. Both models offer high magnification and incorporate
high-resolution optics, providing extremely bright and sharp images of both PC and APC
fiberoptic connectors.
